Soy Facts
Foods rich in soy, such as tofu and soy beverages, reduce concentrations of a certain type of estrogen associated with breast cancer in postmenopausal women. A study in Singapore of 144 women between 50 and 74 years of age found a link between diets rich in soy and women's estrone levels, the principal hormone found in women after menopause. The study found that women who ate a lot of soy had 15% less estrone concentration than those who did not eat much soy.
